Story Behind the Song
This song was partially inspired by the song
"Tears for No One" by the Beatles. It's the
story of feeling stuck in a relationship that's
not working, and finding the inspiration and
courage to risk being on your own again.
Lyrics
Theories of Love
He looks at her
She looks away
and he knew it then, that in her heart she left him.
And when she smiles
she doesn’t know
if she can pretend to love him like she wants to.
Cause when he talks of love, he tells her
don’t ask, don’t think, just be.
She knows his wisdom would become her madness
don’t ask, don’t think, just be.
Still there’s a light that shines through her
and it makes her color out of the lines
and though she listens to his theories of love
in her heart she knows what she’s got to find
They disagree
though neither knows what they fight about.
It’s never that
important.
And she cries and looks away
and he thinks of when
they talked about
a future.
But when he talks of love
how can he tell her
“don’t ask, don’t think, just be”?
He wants her so but he can’t
understand her
don’t ask, don’t think, just be.
Still there’s a light that shines through her
and it makes her color out of the lines
and though she listens to his theories of love
in her heart she knows what she’s got to find
Still there’s a light that shines through her
and it makes her color out of the lines
and though she listens to his theories of love
in her heart she knows, in her heart she knows, she knows
