Story Behind the Song
A personal crisis of minor magnitude inspired a subliminal cry for help. Written in the dead of night in the studio very quickly. Finished recording in a day. Mixed in a day some months later.
Lyrics
BLOOD & OXYGEN
It's complete
The circles turned and I'm beat
Though I should have learned
But there's always a piece I completely miss,
Whatever
In my moments
Of weakness and dispare
You can always find me there
See I swing to the left
Then I lean to the right
And there must be a point
But it slips out of sight
Supply the oxygen
'Cos I can't get through to my brain again
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K.
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K.
My, my
So I read
Between the lines
But I must have missed the danger signs
How I wish I was wrong
But you knew all along
Now I'm twisted and strange while
The words on the page spin around and around saying
Anything - and everything
Blood supply the oxygen
'Cos I can't get through to my brain again
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K.
Blood supply the oxygen
'Cos I can't get through to my brain again
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K.
And common sense would not prevail
And I think I tried but I know I failed
And there's nothing left to surprise me now
So goodnight sweet prince in your paper crown
Blood denied the oxygen (Can you fix me up)
And I can't get through to my brain again
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K. (Can you fix me up)
Blood supply the oxygen
'Cos I can't get through to my brain again
I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm O.K.
I'm OK
I'm OK
I'm OK
