With nothing to do in the winter but chop wood and day trade back in December, 19 Hundred and 99, the Woodhead clan (AKA The Payday Loners) from the Ozark Mountains got together to record this Christmas ditty. All caught up in the promise of high flying success in the stock market, this ballad tells a sad but true tale of how "Get Rich Quick" really works-- against you. The Payday Loners spin their yarn of how they intend to put presents under the tree, or how they'd really like for Santa to do that for them. Guaranteed giggles, or we'll grind your feed for free!

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written on December 8th, on a flight home from a business trip last Holiday season. With CNBC and the Nightly Business Report catching on with the general public, a lot of attention had been focused on the stock market. The attention is still ever-present, so it looks like every Christmas from here on out will be a Dot Com kind of some sort.

Dave Brock (Curtis Woodhead) from Audio Vision in KC helped by putting the music behind my voice. It took him longer to tune his guitar than it took for me (Jim Bob Woodhead) to sing into the mike and him to chart the chords on Dec. 14th.

Dave and Chuck (Lester Woodhead) collaborated on the background music. We couldn't get together until Monday, December 27th to lay down the vocal. There is a Christmas day stogie still stuck in my squawk box, as you can hear from the vocal track, laid down on the seventh take.

I sent my song to the Registry of Copyrights during spring break, and received my Certificate of Registry of Copyright Number PAu 2-490-672.

    Lyrics
    "Dot Com Kind of Christmas"

It's a dot com kind of Christmas
    With investors toe-to-toe
Jumpin' for a chance to score
    The ultimate IPO.
    With brokers hot to go
To keep you in the know
    'Bout the hot stocks here
    With Christmas cheer
So make your bet: Win, Place or Show

It's a dot com kind of Christmas
    Underneath the mistletoe.
    Santa, give me a lift
    E-mail me a gift
    Stock certificates that really glow!
    Please for my stock-ing stuffer
Give me wealth so I won't suffer
    'N underneath my tree
    Shares that start with "e"
So times won't get no tougher

It's a dot com kind of Christmas
Can you hear the sleigh bells ring?
    We'll deck the halls
    'Til the share price falls
and can't afford to give anything
I'll have to sell all I own
    On E-Bay or by phone.
    The golden egg I laid
    Through Ameritrade
Got day traded for a payday loan
