	Story Behind the Song Turned down for a date I began obsessing on what would have happened had she said yes instead of no. I really was eating microwave hotdogs and listening to a bad Faith No More CD. This was written in 1995, I think. In the summer of 1998 my old pal Erik Ness recorded the basic track - just me and my guitar - in the basement of the old New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau, which was basically empty as the Bureau was in the process of moving into its new building. About two years later, Erik added the backup band - The Desperados - at an actual studio. Regretfully, I couldn't make it to that session, but Erik did a surprisingly fine job synchronizing the band with my weird track.
