This is one of the most bitter songs we've written. the chorus is a punch in the face from the verse. All around it's just a good song that's a bit harder (for the most part) than the rest of our stuff.

    Story Behind the Song
We were having band practice one night and Matt dissapeared up stairs for a while. After about 15 or 20 minutes, the rest of us got a bit currious and went to investigate. It seems in the short time he was upstairs, Matt had written the chours and most of the verses to this song. In the moment, we didn't think much of it, then he started to strum some stuff along with it, and we all kinda trickled in with some harmony parts. After that we all just moved on to someting else. By the end of the night we had forgotten the song and left it far from finished. But the next time we saw matt, he had it done.

The first time we heard it he played it on the couch with just a dulcimer. The first time we played it all together, the song just transformed. We had just recently started playing with Kyle Brown, and began to notice that drums just added a missing energy that turned this slow folk song into the bitter bundle of rage it is now.

    Lyrics
    I've never felt this close
to being close enough to you
    I've never felt this close

I never wanted to fall asleep,
I never wanted to drive awake

Shut your mouth when I'm talking
I don't think you listen any more
Shut your eyes when you're sleeping
next time I wont let you sleep here
somehow I will find a way
somewhere a way back to you
    inside

Shut your mouth when your eating
I dont want to see you chew your food
Shut your ears when I'm talking
    this conversations not for you
somehow I will find a way
somewhere a way back to you
how 'bout you stop your sobbing
    this conversations over

    I've never felt this close
to feeling close enough to you
    I've never felt this close

I never wanted to fall asleep,
I never wanted to drive awake
I never wanted to stay out late
I never bowed my head to pray

    I could pin you down
    I could pin you down
    I could pin you down
    so i could say
    so i could say

shut your mouth when I'm talking
I don't think you listen any more
shut your eyes when you're sleeping
next time I wont let you sleep here
somehow I will find a way
somewhere a way back to you
    inside inside
