Story Behind the Song
"Again" has a groovier feel than the rest and is an acoustic guitar based song. It was written on acoustic guitar and originally had a folky feel. But with the addition of a band, the song has a more rhythmic feel.
Originally, "Again" was about the period after a breakup with a loved one. But Mark changed the lyrics later on to fit into the story because he felt the song served a better purpose as part of the story.
Three acoustic guitars were recorded for "Again." One regular, another capoed at the second fret, and another capoed at the fifth. It has a bigger sound because of all the guitars playing.
