"Silent Beast" is a conversation between Francis and his mentor Elijah regarding a man named Preston. Preston is the "Silent Beast." Elijah deems Preston an evil man and forewarns Francis that he should not associate with him. Francis does not understand why Elijah speaks ill of Preston. He cannot see that Preston is of malicious spirit. "Silent Beast" is one of the heavier songs on "Scarred Truth" and has pretty rocking feel. Story Behind the Song
"Silent Beast" was the most difficult to record since it had so many different sections of music. It was also perhaps the most experimental right next to "Tribal Jam." It has a haunting melody and feel since it is about the dark soul of Preston Foreason.
The music for "Silent Beast" was recorded in the early sessions with the vocals recorded about a month later. Mark didn't have any melody or lyrics to fit with the music so he just procrastinated. Eventually he came up with some lyrics and an interesting melody the day before it was recorded. The final version of "Silent Beast" is the result of much hard work and thought.
Lyrics
I'll wait for a sign to change my regard of this man. He seems to speak the way.
Respected by the crowd,
simply a man who wants to
one day steal the hearts of his followers.
Lined in blackened cloth,
the very symbol of what is death.
Why can't you see?
What is your source of this slanderous talk?
I had never believed that you would.
Lying naked amongst the shadows of refuge,
cracked from the sphere,
eyeing the flame, blinding hues
tossed by and bruised
Can't you get away?
Spite against the pity of another
cast away, tie up, fire and smother
Strengthened as his will approaches divine
He reaches up to calm the crowd in due time
"FOLLOW ME!"
a powerful man.
orchestrated the entire massacre.
lives were taken,
not his concern.
worry
respect
the hoax.
reason to doubt your claims,
I will consider your advice
when dealing with this man.
