	Story Behind the Song The song was inspired a by a 1950's story about space travel. In "common time", the main character Garrard goes from a state where a second takes an hour, to a state where an hour takes a second, and back again. The song is an impression of what Garrard must have experienced, similar perhaps to what grant stevens experienced after going under anesthesia. waking up hours later in what felt like a second, and then spending a week in a hospital bed where every second felt like an hour.
