    Story Behind the Song
"My girlfriend and I took a thirteen-hour road trip from Dallas, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia to visit her family. While she was driving I wrote a poem called, 'The Halls of Southeast Pines'. The trip for me represented taking a vacation from the stress in my life and trying to figure out my next destination. There's a long stretch of pine trees along the highway from East Texas to Alabama that looks like one big hallway. You can't see the end and when the road would bend, I sometimes felt lost-analogous to my life in general." - Chris Gonzalez, December 2000

    Lyrics
The Halls of Southeast Pines By Chris Gonzalez, Copywright, 2000

It's rollin' off my back with the rain in Mississippi.
Soon I'll be letting it go.
As I sail through these halls of Southeast pines,
    I don't know where I am.

Had a tight grip on life for awhile.
    Then heavy my shoulders became.
So I lit a jay over Mississippi river,
And there I forgot who to blame.
Now I'm sailing through these Southeast pines,
    I don't know where I am.

I knew there were answers in the sun,
And I knew revival was dancing in my lungs,
    But now I'm sailing through...
    Southeast pines, Southeast pines.

Someday I will wade through this holy river,
And there I will worship the sun.
And always will I thank it for what I've lost and, What's washed away.
But now I'm sailing through these Southeast pines,
    I don't know where I am.

I knew there were answers in the sun,
And I knew revival was dancing in my lungs,
    But now I'm sailing through...
    Southeast pines. Southeast pines...
