Story Behind the Song
We were looking for a clever cover song to perform for a huge show we were preparing for.Matthew Burgher walks in with a recording of 15th century music, and suggests we metalize one. So Mr. Burgher arranged it, helped us find the correct melodies, and after much patience, performed the song before a huge crowd that went crazy. It's a bit over the top, but we wanted it that way.The actual song is by an uknown, and the metal music is by Abwhore, so we do not claim to have written this.
Lyrics
Alas my lady you do me wrong to cast me off discourteously
For I have loved you for so long delighting in your company
I have been ready at your hand, to grant whatever you would crave
I have both waged life and land, your love and goodwill, for to have
Greensleeves, was all my joy, greensleeves was my delight
Greensleeves was my heart of joy and who but my lady Greensleeves
Thou could'st desire no earthly thing, but still thou had'st it readily
thy music, still to play and sing, and yet thou would'st not love me!
Greensleeves was all my joy, Greensleeves was my delight
Greensleeves was my heart of joy and who but my lady Greensleeves
Well, I pray to God on high, that thou, my constant seam is seen
and yet that once, before I die, thou will vouch safe to love me
