Story Behind the Song
"This song really started out to be about Betty Page, hence the title. But to be honest, lyrically it ended up somewhere completely different as it developed... but I loved the title so much I kept it.
It deals with a situation of catching a lover in the act of infidelity, dealing with it, telling them to go to hell. But still having to face the fact that deep down you are totally an addict to this person and their memory still burns a hole right through you every chance it gets" - Arnold R. Benton
Lyrics
I SEE YOU STANDING ON THE CORNER AT MIDNIGHT
BATHING IN YOUR HALO OF SIN
THOSE BATTING EYES,
AND LIPSTICK GOODBYES
DON'T HAVE TO ASK,
IT'S CLEAR WHERE YOU'VE BEEN
MY RECOGNITION,
NOW I'M FACED WITH DECISION
SINKING IN THIS OCEAN OF BLUE
THIS CRUCIFITION,
TRUTH CONTRADICTION
BROKEN BY THIS IMAGE OF YOU
YOUR SLAVE I AM, BUT REMEMBER THIS,
FOR WITHOUT ME, THIS GAME GOES AWAY
TAKE ME
FAKED ME
BREAK ME
TAKE ME
FAKED ME
BREAK ME
THROUGH THIS DECEPTION,
A NEW FOUND PERCEPTION
I KNOW NOW THAT I'M REALLY ALIVE
THESE DEEDS MAY FRAY, BUT YOU CAN'T SLAY
TRUTH IS YOU'RE JUST DEAD INSIDE
YOUR SLAVE I AM, BUT REMEMBER THIS,
FOR WITHOUT ME, THIS GAME GOES AWAY
TAKE ME
FAKED ME
BREAK ME
TAKE ME
FAKED ME
BREAK ME
