	Story Behind the Song Boomtown went through a lot of changes during the recording process. Just prior to the mixing sessions this song had become heavily laden with guitar tracks and was eventually stripped down to what it is here by consensus to emphasize the lonliness of the character in the song. This was one of those songs that had a lose arrangement up until the mix was complete and the band really took the final product to heart. As a result the song became a much more powerful and dynamic feature of the live show after the recording was complete. Lyrics I was here when there was nothing but a cactus and a stream. Sleeping in my wagon, boy, I was living in a dream. Looking for a new life in the country called California. When I found a yellow stone, lord it surely made my day. And now I'm living in a boomtown. Somebody get me out of here. My daddy told me to make my way in the Western states of the USA. Find me a piece of land to call my own and build a home. But it's a cruel, cruel world lord with very little that I could afford. Until I found buried in my bucket the earthly joy of a golden nugget. And now I'm living in a boomtown. I'm gonna shovel my way out of here.
