Story Behind the Song
This was a tune that John was caught noodling around with during the rehearsals for the initial recording session. The guys in the band urged him to bring it to the session and, when he insisted that it wasn't finished and therefore couldn't be recorded he was unanimously overruled. He decided to repeat the second verse for the sake of getting the track down on tape witht the intention of adding new lyrics for the third verse later. Well, this structure stuck and te song quickly became a favorite of the band's as well as their listeners.
Lyrics
Adele don't you tell. You'll get me in trouble. Whatever you want I'll give you on the double.
Well, me and Maureen didn't think we'd be seen when you spied us down by the pond on the weekend Sarah Mae was gone.
Adele don't you tell. I'll give you a hundred dollars. Just don't go and holler what you know to Sarah Mae.
You might give her a heart attack now you wouldn't want that, Adele.
Yeah, you might give her a migrane, baby what a pain, Adele.
You might just make her pass out now, without a doubt, she may never wake up again. Well, I thought you were her friend, Adele.
Adele, girl don't you tell.
Adele don't you tell. I'll give you a hundred dollars. Just don't go and holler what you know to Sarah Mae.
You might give her a heart attack now you wouldn't want that, Adele.
Well, you might give her a migrane, baby what a pain, Adele.
Yeah you might just make her pass out now, without a doubt, she may never wake up again. Well, I thought you were her friend, Adele.
Adele, I need your cover, cuz I think I love her.
Adele.
