Story Behind the Song
I was in Toronto at a Musical and as I walked down the streets of Toronto I noticed all the homeless people and wondered what their background history was.
Lyrics
His eyes filled up with lonely tears,
they fell down to the ground
Remembering his pretty bride,
applauding in the crowd
He'd think about his youthfull days
of being on the stage,
Then he'd have a drink, of Paper Covered Wine
Those memories they haunt him,
as he travels back in time
The day he went up on that stage
and all the world was fine
Until a man in blue came up
and stopped his happy song
He said son your wife, and little girl are gone
chorus
Oh that Paper Covered Wine takes all the hurt away
And helps him make it through the pain, of living day to day
One day soon that Paper Wine will be just memories to him
Of the love he had, and the love they left behind
They found his lifeless body,
on the ground out in the rain
He had a smile that stretched for miles
for he didn't have the pain
And you could almost hear him saying,
honey everything is fine
for I no longer have a need
for Paper Covered Wine
Chorus
Oh that Paper Covered Wine takes all the hurt away
and helps him make it through the pain
of living day to day
One day soon that paper wine will be just memories to him
Of the love he had, and the love he left behind
One day soon that paper wine will be just memories to him,
Of the love he had, and the love he left behind
end
