    Story Behind the Song
Studying mythology and its development over time and around the world is a little hobby of mine. I think UFO stories are a continuation of a long line of supernatural visitation stories, in the past given religious connotations, but taking on technological elements in the modern world. Though I think aliens landing on earth would be cool, I am very much a skeptic about visitation stories. To paraphrase the late Carl Sagan, I believe it is more likely that people who claim to have had visitation experiences simply experienced a strange and/or unfamiliar mental state than it was for them to have been visited by aliens and probed in their favorite orifices. The mind works in mysterious ways. Anyway, I took this premise as a jumping-off point to comment on people living in a modern culture driven by vapid mass media where original, rational thought is discarded in favor of a more palatable, but ultimately less satisfying, diet of ready-made opinions and pat answers.

    Lyrics
Circles on the ground, lights in the sky
Johnny get your gun, time for some alien pie
Boobs on the tube and I wanna know why
Wish I was at home eating alien pie

    [Chorus]
Oh mama, mama, feel I'm gonna die
If you don't serve me up some of that alien pie
Alien pie, serve me some of the alien pie

World's turning 'round, what's happened to the sky
Everything I see is entertainment and lies
Shield me from the truth, I don't even want to try
My mind is too fragile, feed me alien pie

It goes down so smooth, the New Age opiate
But it's churning in my brain where God and science met
Throw in some television for a little bit of spice
That big glowing box so warm and nice

    [Chorus]

They say no one loves you like your mother can
And I know it ain't no lie
My mother, she's my number one fan
Every night she serves me alien pie

Alien pie, serve me up some of that alien pie
