In April of 1889, twenty thousand people took part in the Oklahoma land run, the largest land run in history. This song is about two of those pioneers. |

Story Behind the Song
I was picking with a group of my friends in 1989 when we were asked to play at the Land Run Centennial in downtown Oklahoma City. One of my friends suggested I write a land run song for the occasion, and this song is the result. Is it true? Well, spiritually yes, factually no. My folks actually showed up about ten years later, but I wasn't about to let that stand in the way of a good story line.
