Story Behind the Song
Isiah chapter 61 was read one sabbath in the synangoge at Nazareth. When the man was finished with the text he stood to his feet and proclaimed that the scripture was fullfilled that day in their hearing... That was just the beginning of the story!
Lyrics
One day at the synagoge
the scroll is read by a carpenter.
Tempers, was this blasphemy?
Or could this be Hosanna...
Some said, "he's a lunatic".
Others, "just a prophet".
Some said, "he's just a rebel".
Or could this be Messiah has come?
The lame walk, the blind see
and deaf ears are open.
The marvals of heaven are spoken.
Devils flee, there's victory
and he's come to free us!
Come see the one who is called Jesus...
Down by the Sea of Gallilee
fishermen had to come and see.
Sinners came from all around
hearing the secrets in parables he would expound.
Then vipers dressed in priestly robes
captured him but they did not know
this man they had tried to damn
turned out to be their Passover Lamb.
The lame walk, the blind see
and deaf ears are open.
The marvals of heaven are spoken.
Devils flee, there's victory
and he's come to free us!
Come see the one who is called Jesus...
(bridge)
Third day; there's an empty tomb,
Pentecost; there's an upper room,
and right now he is here with us.
You can't keep him down, this man called Jesus!
The lame walk, the blind see
and deaf ears are open.
The marvals of heaven are spoken.
Devils flee, there's victory
and he's come to free us!
Come see the one who is called Jesus...
