Story Behind the Song
The song "Alien" is about feeling in the world, but not of the world. In our modern society, the focus on accumulation of possesions, money, power, and status, leaves me feeling empty and alienated inside. To truly love and connect with other living things is in my opinion a much more lasting and fulfilling experience. It seems like this planet could be a little more evolved sometimes, with all the terrorism, racism, corruption, oppression, & other barbaric acts still happening. Of course the news and media focus more on these types of things than the positive happy stories, which can distort our perceptions of the way things really are, and the progress that has been made. But I just can't help feeling like I want to be distant from all this trauma drama, and focus my life on creating positive, constructive, beautiful things. In this sense, I don't fit in with the norm. Maybe I came from another planet to help out the earth a little bit? Maybe you did too?
Lyrics
Well I'm just visiting planet earth.
They say I been here since my birth.
It seems like I am just one of a kind.
I think I'm unidentified.
'Cause sometimes I feel like an alien,
Sometimes I feel like an alien.
I'm just lookin' for a place called home.
Don't wanna be here all alone.
I mean no harm I come in peace.
A prisoner of a big release.
But sometimes I feel like an alien,
Sometimes I feel like an alien.
Sometime I feel like a stranger in a foreign land.
Sometimes I feel like an alien.
I'm just visiting planet earth.
Location of my recent birth.
The scenery here is just out of this world.
But somehow somethin's still unfurled.
'Cause sometimes I feel like an alien,
Sometimes I feel like an alien.
Sometimes I feel like the earth is still a foreign land.
Sometimes I feel like an alien.
