Story Behind the Song
In 1992 in Coral Springs Florida at Coral Springs High School there existed an environmental club called "Save What's Left" that was one of the most active and popular student clubs in the school as well as the state. This club had been picking up membership exponentially for since the mid-80's and in 1992 Aaron Scavron decided to set the club up with an anthem and enlisted the help of much of his high school buddies. The anthem became this tune, "Now and Forever". We also enlisted the help of my little brother to recite a poem at the beginning of the song to lend a dramatic edge the the cause.
Lyrics
spoken word:
My dad loves nature, he and I planted a tree together,
but now they started burning garbage near my house,
Now my tree is dying. How can they do this to me?
It was my tree, now its gone and it will never grow again, ever....
A faulty conviction has troubled our times
A simple donation to ease their minds
Our future fading fast soon to be gone
The children have noticed, soon reality shall dawn
Its not the other person's fault anymore
One day in your life it will, all come down to you
When it does will you be able to pull it through
The line's been drawn, which side are you on?
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
Can you watch the earth die, right in front of your eyes?
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
It all comes down to what you feel inside.
Just a bunch of kids? I think not.
It's their parent's generation their tryin' to top
There's much more here than the eye can see, a spark in their eyes
It's a glow shinning bright.
More valuable than the "grown-ups" money
"Grown-ups" can't understand this power,
This drive with no profit.
It's a step into the future, and no one can stop it.
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
Can you watch the earth die, right in front of your eyes?
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
It all comes down to what you feel inside.
rap:
One day the USA
but not long till the worls
will take hold
of the concept, the reality
Of saving trees and saving land
All the while, mearly trin' to save ourselves.
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
Can you watch the earth die, right in front of your eyes?
Do you have the courage to Save What's Left?
It all comes down to what you feel inside.
We can't keep heading down thi path of lies
Do you have the courage to
Save What's Left?
