Story Behind the Song
I am in the middle of a lot of circumstances.
Some that are so crazy I can't comprehend them.
I sat down one night and wrote this,
recorded it and mixed it the next day.
I was really in a rush to do it because I
knew it would be a long time before I would
be able to record again. My life is in the
east coast and my studio is in New Orleans.
I come from a crazy family, like many people
do. I don't usually use cliche's, but I was
trying to get some perspective, and realized
that's just what life is...to everyone who
is going through a rough time.
I wrote this song in the hot hot sweaty heat
of New Orleans. It really doesn't reflect my
true singing voice, but this is really more
of a narative song.
Lyrics
This is a story about my life
I know nobody cares but it's what I'm thinking tonight
I'm sittin here smokin have another beer another beer
Just passin time, holdin my fear
That's just what life is
That's the way it goes
That's just what life is
That's just what it is
Uncle murdered, found dead in a motel
Grandpa had half a leg and one hand, that was hell
Other grandpa shakin couldn't hold his drink, hold his drink
My father should have gone to jail, ooh that's what I think
That's just what life is,
The way the twisted wind blows
That's just what life is
A deck full of unknown
Sisters been strung out, most her life
My aunt died of cancer, she was cool, man she was allright
Little brother he's a drug mason, he's pushin his stone
Old man next store dies in jail, couldn't leave us kids alone
My grandma at 80 she married, she has no fear
My mother had a really tough life, now she's lookin in the mirror
Uh!
My older brother he rides fast on his motercycle
He's normal, so am I, his name is Michael
That's just what life is
The circle just grows
That's just what life is
That's just what it is
That's just what life is
It's so simple I know
That's just what life is
Just the way it goes
That's just what life is
So simple I know
That's just what life is
The way the twisted wind blows
