Story Behind the Song
My songs come about in lots of different ways.
This one started with the title and just
went from there. The lyrics are not entirely
specific, but basically talk about someone
who is going through life manipulating people,
oblivious to the fact that they will get what's
coming to them eventually.
Lyrics
You seek to hold me down in shallow water
But I can see the depth of your fears
You look around, you smile and you wave
But you're not quite sure what's going on here
I see you toast, your glass raised to heaven
Towards something you wish you could believe in
I hear you boast thinking you got them hooked
But man you got another thing coming
[Chorus]
Think again, but you better think fast
Where will you be when your last die has been cast
Sink or swim, the world's going 'round
You can't stop it and you can't slow it down
You better think again, but buddy, you better think fast
Time after time I've turned my cheek to you
To feel you kiss with poisoned lips so untrue
I see that vile smile turning towards a bright new face
Just another victim of your hate
[Chorus]
And you're holding me down
But I'm kickin'
And I can breathe water with the best of 'em
Clear, cool
It's washing over me
You'll just wither up with the rest of 'em
[Chorus]
