Story Behind the Song
"The soft touch that music like this provides are always nothing but excellent. Keep it up!" Fredrik Cole: Trax In Space
I have always been intrigued with the scene in heave depicted in Revelation where the 24 elders cast their crowns at the feet of Jesus to sing praises unto Him. (Revelation 4:9-11) A pastor had once preached a sermon on the passage wherein he explained that it is a picture of the followers of Christ giving back to the Lord everything He has given us. It is amazing thing to think that we will receive crowns when we meet God in eternity only to give them up to Him.
In contrast, in our present life we tend to hold unto our things so tightly. Why is that? Was it not God who gave everything to us to begin with? Why would be so hesitant to give back to Him what He has so freely given?
Yet, as we read Revelation we see those who are standing before God in all His glory. In light of His greatness, everything that we have will seem utterly insignificant. So should it be on our sojourn on earth. God is no less great now than He will be in our future estate with Him. Therefore, we should dedicate our existence to the presentation of all of our lives and possessions to Him.
It was with this thought in mind that I wrote the song Glory! This song by Selah is written in a powerful way with full harmonies to portray a mighty statement. It has a driving beat to dramatize the intensity of the moment in heaven that the lyrics portray.
It was written as a part of a musical that I have composed based upon the Book of Revelation called The Last Judgment. This work has been designed to present the two alternatives of worship that are demonstrated in this last book of the Bible. One road is that of the unbeliever which will lead to judgment. The other is the worship of the saints that lead to eternal life. Glory! is a prime example of the worship of God. We pray that it will lead you to a greater understanding of the glory that is embodied in the God who you serve and the need to cast your crowns at His feet.
Lyrics
Glory to the Lord Almighty (Rev 4:9-11)
Glory! to the Lord Almighty,
Glory! God of heaven and earth,
Glory! we will give You praise and glory!
Over all the earth.
We will cast our crowns down at Your feet,
For Your faithfulness will never cease,
We will reign with You forever,
And ever more!
Youre the Lord Almighty,
God of heaven and earth,
Glory! we will give You praise and glory!
Over all the earth.
You are worthy O Lord, our God,
To receive glory and honor and power,
For by You all things were created,
We will worship you forever more.
Jesus, Youre the Lord Almighty,
Jesus, God of heaven and earth,
Jesus, we will give You praise and glory,
Over all the earth!
Glory! to the Lord Almighty,
Glory! God of heaven and earth,
Glory! we will give You praise and glory!
Over all the earth.
Glory! Glory! over all the earth!
