	Eric Satie (1866-1925) was one of music's greatest originals. Some consider his music the predecessor to Impressionism. Originally, a "Gymnopedie" was a ceremonial dance performed at ancient Greek festivals. In Satie's vision, they are sad, languorous tone poems with simple melodies and fresh harmonies. Gymnopedie No. 1 is particularly well-known from its use in a vintage TV commercial.
