Story Behind the Song
Written and recorded @ The Dungeon in Ohio. Remastered @ Stucco Holmes Studios in California.
Jim Reindel & I met on mp3.com a while back. We eventually decided on doing a collaboration together. Jim sent me a DAT tape of Digital Transmissions, which by the way was titled by Jon Yarger of The Progressive Rock Radio Network. Jim asked me to add some more guitars on the song. Well, how could I refuse? When I heard the song, I immediately fell in love with it! It was right up my alley. It was not only inspiring, but a challenge as well. I mean c'mon, this IS Jim Reindel we're talking about! I took the DAT to my good friend & engineer, James Davis of Stucco Holmes studios. James was also inspired by the song & like me, he jumped at the opportunity to be apart of this collaboration. Jim left sections of the song open & gave me total freedom to do as I pleased with it, so that I did. After I put my mark on the song, James remastered it & back it went to Jim.
Jim Reindel is one of the most coolest human beings Ive ever met, as he is one of the most incredible progressive rock musicians Ive ever heard! To be totally honest, when I first heard Jim's music, I was thoroughly blown away & was not only intimidated by his musical mastery, but also thought that he was probably full of himself, but after I got to know him, I realized that he was just the exact opposite. I wish more people in this wacky business had HALF of his positive attitude towards music & his ongoing support for his fellow artist's. I'm TOTALLY flattered that Jim asked me to be a part of his remarkable musical universe. I'm also very proud to call him my friend.
Thanks for everything Jim!!!
- Vince Vrbancic
Well!!! What can I say to that? DITTO'S Vince!!! Big time, all the time- Anytime! This is just the first of many to come. Things will only get better. Vince knows that our genre (progressive rock) isn't the most active genre out there. But neither he or I are concerned about that. We believe in what we do, as do most self respecting progressive/instrumental artists. We are not concerned with making a killing on the web. (sure it would be nice) ...but that is not our focus. Just writing and recording the best progrock we can. We hope you'll enjoy it too.
BTW, this would not have happened without Vince. The enthusiasm he shows is inspirational. He really got me fired up to do it, rather than say 'yeah, sounds cool...we'll have to try that sometime', he was ready to go. This motivated me to act fast. Feeding off of eachother, things moved quickly.
It was a shear pleasure to work with Vince. Jim Davis is cool as can be too. A great engineer, producer and musician. The pleasure of this collab has been all mine. I'm only thankful...and grateful to have met Vince and Jim...not to mention sharing the same song (and page) with such a monster talent.
They are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet too. Most proggers are.
Thanks a million guys! Jim/Tim Reindel
