Story Behind the Song
The sun laid its thick coating of rays on the red barn we were staying in. I
woke up, cold. In the kitchen, Aunt Mary was playing solitaire on the table.
Her diamond rings glistened. I poured cereal into a bowl and sat next to
her. She didn't look at me but said 'Robert, if you were the king of the
forest, what would be your ruling?' Being only 11, I gave her a blank stare.
After a few minutes and no answer from me, she spoke again. 'Robert, what if
you were the king of Atlantis? would you rule with a mighty sword?' I smiled
just to be polite.
I realised that the barn was the only structure standing for miles around.
And one of us needed to keep it from falling.
