Story Behind the Song
There a bit of a story behind this one...
I met Duane in the summer of 69 behind the Boston Tea Party when they were opening for Frank Zappa before the ABB's first Album and I was blown away by his love for the Blues and Slide guitar...a real friendly guy who introduced me to his Brother Gregg... I started to see him all over, with the then unknown ABB , with Delaney & Bonnie, walking down the Street in Boston , all over...
Many years later, a friend had just come from the Rose Hill Cementery in Macon,GA were Duane and Berry Oakley are buried and asked what were the notes on Duane's Headstone, I told him it was 'Little Martha' the acoustic instrumental that he did with Dickey Betts ...
The next day, I was sitting outside on my deck, it was a cloudy, gloomy day, and I had one of my guitars in Open E tuning and a bottleneck, and though of the grave's at Rose Hill and just started to play a little riff, then another, then some bottleneck, and when I hit the last note,a harmonic E, the Sun came out...
So I figured that was it... :)
